Mobile Marketing for Small Business

Mobile marketing has become the "must-have" tool for nearly every small business. You should already know that having a website is essential if you want customers and potential customers to find your products and services. But, is your website mobile ready?

People are using their smartphones and tablet pc's every day to search for nearby businesses or make online purchases. They're looking to find your phone number, find your hours of operation and where you're located.

Through the use of maps and local business listings already built into their mobile devices, customers and potential customers are looking for the nearest restaurant, gas station, or even a hardware store.

If your website isn't taking advantage of local search listings or doesn't have a mobile version of your site, there isn't any way for people to find your business. Well, it's possible they might be able to find you if they can somehow track down a copy of a phone book somewhere. But who uses those anymore?

With a mobile version of your website you'll be able to give people searching for your products or services one of the fastest way for them to find you.

Using mobile marketing techniques can allow a restaurant, for example, to give customers their business hours, location, menu, customer reviews or even provide them with coupons and discounts.

Have you ever seen one of these strange looking "pictures"?

They're called QR Codes and something you should have in your store window, at the cash register, in your advertisements, and anywhere you promote your business including your stationary and business cards.

QR codes can be embedded with a link to your website, coupons, text messages, or several other ways to put your business out in front of your mobile customers.

Using their smartphones, people scan the code and can see whatever form of marketing message you want to present to them.

We've barely touched the surface where mobile marketing is concerned. Hopefully, this short primer has given you something to think about when deciding how to promote your business.
